Tips for regular culling (AKA clean out the clutter!)


Closets and cabinets bulging at the seams?

You have no idea how much all that extra junk is weighing down your mind.

Let’s go!


In your closet, get rid of anything:

You haven't worn in 2-3 years.

          (And it's not formal wear.)

You don't like or don't wear or that doesn't fit.

          (Maybe it was a gift, or no longer your taste. Whatever. It goes.)

That HURTS!

          (Stop keeping shoes that hurt your feet! It's not worth it!)


As a woman, you ONLY need:

1-2 pairs of dress shoes

1-2 pairs athletic shoes

1-2 pairs casual shoes

1 pair of yard shoes (old athletic shoes for yard work, etc.)

1 pair of slippers

And possibly also:

1 pair of boots

1 pair of sandals

 

That's already TEN PAIRS OF SHOES.

That's plenty for anyone.


In the rest of your house, you can EASILY gain space by getting rid of:

Small appliances you no longer use.

Books you won't read again.

Movies you won't watch again.

Fitness/sports equipment you don't use.


And check on the stuff you've gathered for your various hobbies!

Hobby accessories tend to multiply FAST.


BONUS 1: An easy way to figure out what you don't use!

Keep an ongoing donation box somewhere in your home.

Add items to it over time.

If it's sat in the box for 3-6 months (and it's not season-specific), you likely don't need it.

We ALWAYS have donation boxes at my house.

That way, any time we come across something we think we don't need, it has a place to go. It doesn't get forgotten again at the back of the closet or cabinet.


BONUS 2: This is also a great way to MAKE EXTRA CASH.

Sell your gently used items.

Or maybe you even have NEW items in your closets you never used!

People who do this regularly can make a few hundred extra dollars a month.

PLUS you get space back in your closets and cabinets!

Cash in hand plus less stuff cluttering your home and your mind is WINNING.
